YURT Gonna love it here
This past weekend we set off to celebrate our anniversary (11 years!) in an untraditional fashion. We took a little trip up to Cuyuna State Park in Crosby, MN to stay in one of their yurts. Cuyuna State Park is about two hours North of the Twin Cities and an easy drive with plenty of stops along the way to stop and eat. The park is well known for its mountain biking trails and is highly used all year round for these purposes. While in the park, you'll also see snow shoeing, fishing and hiking. The winter does not stop the adventurers in Minnesota!
We had never stayed in a yurt before, but we had a great time and would love to do it again!
We arrived at night so it was a bit tricky to get all situated in the dark and wait for the yurt to warm itself thoroughly, but after a couple hours, the fire was cooking and we were good to go!
The yurt we stayed in could sleep 7 and offered a gathering table, rocking chair, wood burning stove and plenty of room for gear/food. We loved that they provided us with free fire wood for the stove and fire starters and supplies to get us started.
Crosby is a sweet little town we adventured around with a two mile hike in the park, antique store browsing (mama got a new Willie Nelson record!) and delicious foods and brews. The Iron Range Eatery is a must if you're in town and Cuyuna Brewery just across the street is also a nice chill place to check out. Its an old town feel, with a new and hip flair.
We loved getting away to the woods to celebrate something special in a fun new way and one of the best parts was the breathtaking views of the starry skies at night--that never gets old!
We give Cuyuna State Park two thumbs up and will definitely be heading back!
